Opportunities For Teachers and Administrators
The cornerstone of the Indiana Writing Project is the Summer Invitational Institute held in June. The Institute brings together educators who teach at the elementary, intermediate, and secondary level. Participants learn from each other ways to improve how writing is taught. These workshops support teacher understanding of the fundamental aspects of a workshop approach, such as conferencing, mini-lessons, and mentor texts. Especially appropriate for teachers in districts that use Lucy Calkin's Units of Study. Learn more >>

Inservice Workshops and Training
Teachers who have completed the project's summer institute and additional preparation are available for presentations, workshops, and inservices for schools or school districts. Just contact IWP and describe your needs. Possiblities include study groups, portfolios, authentic assessment, writing across the curriculum, process writing, reading/writing workshops, and the writing portion of ISTEP.

Opportunities For Our Teacher Consultants

This workshop, described above, would also be appropriate for Teacher Consultants. The workshop uses College, Career, and Community Writing Program (C3WP) materials from National Writing Project. In this 3.5-day workshop, teachers will study the C3WP approach to argument writing, focusing on helping students see argument as entering a conversation (rather than picking sides). Learn more>>
