Professional Development for TCs

The Indiana Writing Project offers professional development opportunities for both teachers and administrators, as well as for Teacher Consultants. View our opportunities below.

Entering the Conversation: Supporting Students’ Argument Writing

Dates: June 22-25, 9 AM - 4 PM (M-W), 9 AM - 12 PM (Thurs.)

Cost: $175 ($125 for IWP Teacher Consultants)

PGPs: 25

This workshop will be led by Leah Chandler and Heather Abernathy. Leah and Heather both have gone through IWP professional development focused on argument writing using the College, Career, and Community Writing Program (C3WP) materials from National Writing Project. In this 3.5-day workshop, teachers will study the C3WP approach to argument writing, focusing on helping students see argument as entering a conversation (rather than picking sides). Teachers will participate as learners in C3WP curriculum, then study various curricular tools. The end of this workshop will provide time for teachers to plan how tools from C3WP may be useful in their classrooms in the 2020-2021 academic year. This workshop is appropriate for teachers in grades 3-12.
